Reach your goals in one bold move – right now
Are you willing to do for a couple of years, for a few years, for several years―if necessary―what most people will not, so you can live the rest of your life like most people cannot? Let me show you how to reach your goals right now, in one BOLD move.
As you read this, I should be in the Bahamas. Instead, I’m here in my car, about to walk into the school we are building.
Why am I doing this?
This week, I had the opportunity to go on a five day trip to the most beautiful, luxurious resort in all of the Bahamas―and make up for the fact that I didn’t get to take my annual vacation to Mexico this summer.
I’m not telling you this so you feel sorry for me, and certainly not to brag or boast.
I’m sharing it with you to prove a point.
Vacations, getaways, or staycations are critical for me to reach my goals. They’re essential to my level of focus and to the level of power I choose to play at. All year round. That’s why once a quarter, I strategically and purposefully unplug so I can play at 200%, 300% or 1,000% for the rest of the year.
However, if you’ve been following the work we do, you know we’ve been on a mission to reach our goal of radically revolutionize the global educational system. This summer, we’ve been busy making massive enhancements and changes to our pilot school―bringing in new leadership, faculty, team training, etc.
I needed a vacation more than ever.
Then, like a miracle, the invitation to whisk away to the Bahamas arrived. All expenses paid. A beautiful resort. The best on the island.
And. I’m. Still. Here.
Why didn’t I take the opportunity?
The reason I didn’t is the same reason many of you are grinding away right now, which is: short term sacrifice for long term gain.
How much do YOU believe in the mission you’re building? In the dream you are creating?
And what is the price you are willing to pay to reach your goals and make that dream a reality?
This is one of the lesser known themes of what it takes to live your life as a CHAMPION. Are you willing to do for a couple of years, for a few years, for several years―if necessary―what most people won’t do, so you can live the rest of your life, like most people can’t do?
This is a price tag most people are not willing to pay.
You’ve got to ask yourself, how bad do you want it?
It’s been said you can have anything you want in life, if you’re willing to work hard enough and pay the price. To pay the price for greatness. And it’s days like today, when I’d rather be in the Bahamas, on the beach, holding that fruity drink, that I remind myself: I do not have to do this forever, but I do have to do it today.
If I really want what I say I want, then I have to be willing to make unpopular choices. I have to show up and put in the time on the front end, so I can reap the reward on the back end.
It doesn’t matter what your goal is. What matters is the mentality. The pay versus reward.
I first learned this lesson 15-18 years ago when I was working toward my first massive achievement in my career as an entrepreneur, and someone shared this phrase with me.
“You do not have to do this forever. But you do have to do it today.”
Does anybody make you do this? Do you have to do it? No. It’s a “have to” only you can choose.
So here’s my question for you.
What are the things you must choose to do today, so you can achieve your dream tomorrow?
The choice is pretty straightforward.
You can either play now and pay later. Or, you can choose to pay now and play later.
And, always, always, the play later comes in a much bigger fashion.
Because―usually―“play now” means we’re playing small or giving in. We’re taking shortcuts. We’re being a little bit lazy with ourselves. But if we suck it up and put those boundaries in place, we get the clarity we need to create what we really want and to reach our goals.
This makes your “play later” come in exponential ways you cannot even begin to imagine.
Having this focus makes it crystal clear. Right now, I know why I am sitting outside in my car getting ready to walk into the school. And I do it happily, because I see what’s coming. I know the stakes. I can feel what’s waiting for me in the long run. If I push hard now for a little while, the reward will be epic.
I do not have to do this forever. But I am choosing to do it today.
How about you, my friend?
