5 Steps to Reach Your Ultimate Potential….

… and stop underachieving

How many times per week do you wake up with huge goals and plans for the day, only to finish at night feeling defeated and deflated? Are you nowhere near your true potential?

Not hitting your potential?

Most women feel like this, so let me ask you a couple of questions.

Are you ready to become your own hero? You want to turn your life around and become a true champion in your own life?

A champion is someone who knows the rules of the game and is willing to play by them better than anyone else. Life is a game and we want to play to win. We don’t just want to survive…we want to THRIVE!

How do You Reach Your Ultimate Potential?

I want to share with you 5 steps to reach your ultimate potential…and stop under-achieving!

1. Get clear on what you don’t want

An important part of defining what you want is getting crystal clear on what you are no longer willing to settle for in your life. Why? Because life doesn’t give you what you want. It gives you what you settle for.

You have to be honest with yourself. Look around and ask yourself: “What level am I performing at?” “What’s going on in my life that I’ve settled with?” These other questions might help too:

  • Where am I sick of myself and my own life?
  • Where am I fed up? Look at your circumstances and how you’re showing up in your life.
  • In what area of life can I not stand myself for one more minute?!

But understand, this doesn’t mean you become a raging animal who is mad at the world, angry all the time and impossible to live with. That’s not what I’m talking about at all.

In addition, you become crystal clear on where you no longer want to be right now. 90% of the journey is making the decision that you’re no longer willing to stay – and SETTLE – for where you are right now. So don’t do it!

Are you with me?!

2. Get equally clear on where you want to go

bullseye strategic planning. Hit your potential

That bullseye, that target of where you want to go, is EVERYTHING. It’s challenging to hit a moving target, but it’s darn near impossible to hit an invisible one.

You need to get locked and loaded…crystal clear on exactly what it is you want out of life and what it is you expect from yourself. Above all, be honest.

Where do you want to raise the bar in your life, and what do you want that bar to look like? This is not about perfection, but your next level of excellence.

What does your growth look like if you up-level from where you are now?

3. Identify the obstacles that are standing between you and your victory line

Note that I said the victory line, not the finish line! There is no finish line until we’re done and out of here.

The victory line is the set-up for a new starting line, so to get there you need to identify the obstacles in the way. So, do a very deep and genuine honest self-assessment. Ask yourself:

  • Where have you been playing small?
  • At which points have you been taking short cuts?
  • When have you been living as a victim to self-sabotage?
  • Where are you hitting roadblocks in your everyday environment?
  • Do you struggle with a lack of support, lack of time?
  • Are you short on finances?

These might all be very real limitations on your life right now, but are you going to let them stay there?

No! You’ve gotta identify them, and once you’re clear on what they are, ask yourself:

  • Are you gonna let those obstacles define you or refine you?
  • Are they gonna make you bitter or make you better?
  • Are they gonna be stumbling blocks or stepping stones for your life story?

4. Face those challenges head on and reach for your potential

OK, you’ve identified your challenges, so now you have to face them head on. Every single one of them.

Why? Because if you don’t, they will own you. Either you choose to overcome them, or they will overcome you.

Who’s gonna win this game? Aren’t you ready to become the hero of your own story and the champion of your own life?

To do that, you have to face your challenges head-on and tackle them one after the other. Stop burying your head in the sand and running away from reality. Trying to escape won’t work, because you can’t.

5. You can’t wait for the obstacles to subside to become your best self

Becoming your best self and fully tapping into your potential isn’t about waiting until all the obstacles subside so that you can finally step into your best self. It’s about becoming your best self BECAUSE of the obstacles, not IN SPITE of them.

Perception is everything!!

You can think in one of two ways: “Life is out to get me” or, ‘I was born to thrive and everything around me is happening absolutely in my best interest.”

Become your best self
Become your best self

You have to drop the misconception that life is supposed to be easy and perfect and you just have to wait for everything to calm down. Because that’s never gonna happen!

So internalize this truth: It’s not about waiting for the obstacles to pass, it’s about embracing them as elevating and refining you into the woman you were born to be.

Bonus Tip to hit your potential

OK, let’s pull it all together. Now, you are only one decision away from the person you want to be, and you can decide whenever you want to step into that potential and that power.

So, that decision is amazing, but it’s worthless until you commit to managing that decision on a daily basis.

Get as clear as possible on what you want and what you don’t want. Then, tackle the obstacles as you come to them. When you do that, you’ll be ready to reach your ultimate potential as a woman in charge of her own life.
