Are you fed up with your child’s education? You want your kid to be a goal-achiever with a winning mindset but the school just isn’t catering to that?
Do you notice the gaps in their learning, but tell yourself, “My child’s school isn’t perfect, but I don’t have any better options.”
Or how about this one, “I wish I could give my child an excellent education, he’s naturally a goal-achiever, but it’s just too expensive.”
If you’re at your wits end with your child’s education, girlfriend I got you.
Juggling life as an entrepreneur, dream chaser, and goal-achiever is never easy. Especially now. As a multi-passionate woman creating a life you ABSOLUTELY love, you know you can’t settle. In any area of life.
This includes your kiddos’ education. But as a busy mama, how do you live life without compromising on excellence for yourself and your kids?
And what does homeschooling my son (again!) have to do with it?
Several years ago, my husband and I decided to take education into our own hands. Since then, we’ve been on a mission to radically revolutionize the global education system.
We’ve seen all kinds of schools. All over the world. We travel a lot for work, so my son has attended schools on three different continents. Traditional schools, private schools, a Montessori School. We even did a little bit of “unschooling” during the pandemic.
But all these schools―no matter the community, state, or country―had the same problem. We learned that education is not a local frustration. It is a global frustration.
Looking back at your own schooling, do you feel you gained the life skills to develop and THRIVE personally and professionally? To become the goal-achiever you now are? Or did you have to learn the hard way?
There were just two choices for us:
- Settle
- Take Action
Spoiler alert, we chose #2. Our mission was to create a revolutionary system built to empower today’s goal-achiever to thrive in the modern world, and be equipped with the social-emotional intelligence to be able to lead us into tomorrow. True excellence.
You should be wondering by now, if I’m building a school to revolutionize education, why oh why am I homeschooling my son?
Well, I’ll tell you.
At the end of the last school year, I conducted a detailed audit of our school. At every corner, we asked ourselves, is this excellence? Because of what we learned, we made the painful decision to narrow our classes (for this year) from preschool to third grade, with the goal of scaling and growing each year.
This meant there was no class for my goal-achiever 13 year-old! I eliminated my own son’s class. Who does that???
What were we going to do? My husband and I had an intense heart to heart. And we agreed on homeschooling. We broke down the responsibilities for each subject, so the burden wouldn’t be on my shoulders alone. Here’s what my son’s learning looks like now:
- Morning religious subjects with his father
- Math coach
- Rosetta Stone for second language
- Project based science
- Character development
- Online supplemental programs
- Additional reading for Literature and History
- Key work experience, social skills and responsibilities in our customer support department and at our school.
This is what works for our family. Keep in mind, the way YOU homeschool, what you homeschool, and of course, WHY you homeschool, if you choose to do so, will vary according to the ages of your children, goals and lifestyle.
And I’m here to help you do it.
At the start of the pandemic, I created a free ebook for entrepreneurial moms just like you. It’s full of practical strategies to manage the madness of educating your kid, from home while building a business from home.
You can download it here.
It will not only revolutionize your relationship with your child, but completely change your outlook on life as a solutions oriented person who refuses to settle.
If you’re thinking, “Hey, Chaya! That all sounds good, but how can I possibly teach my child AND run a business AND take care of my family AND have time for myself?” Whew! I feel you.
But, here’s the good news.
Even when I homeschooled my son years ago…by myself…I still had several hours a day of undivided focus time to build my business and get “me time.”
Still resistant to the idea of homeschooling?
Think you could never do it? Crave that time away from your kids? Or are you worried they won’t get enough “social” time―even though that’s been impacted by COVID? Don’t worry, I used to think ALLLLLLL of those things, too! But then I learned the truth. And I share those insights with you inside the ebook.
You just have to be willing to think outside the box, and realize there NEVER should have been a box to begin with.
If you think “out of the box” means special education, chew on this. I believe we all have special needs in some way. Special ed is one of the most brilliant forms of education, and if we all had a “special education,” our lives would be so incredibly different. Why do we have to be almost failing in today’s school system to be taught how to succeed?
Did you know, education is one of the only industries that has failed to innovate since the Industrial Revolution? So called “modern education” was designed centuries ago to teach children to be good factory workers who’d follow orders, not do pesky things like innovate, think for themselves, or become a goal-achiever.
The big question is, do you want your child to be a follower or a leader? A conformist or innovator? If the mainstream box isn’t for you, don’t get stuck. Dig deep. Investigate. Ask yourself:
“Am I pleased, proud and satisfied with the education that my children are getting? And, if not, what other options do I have?”
Nothing should stand in the way of creating excellent options for your children. There are solutions today that won’t break the bank.
When my son was born, I had this dream that he’d see and experience the world as his classroom. Not just read theories in a textbook. This is how he’s traveled to so many continents. THIS is how he’s had the experiences he’s had. Not because they were handed to me on a silver platter, but because I worked for each of them.
You can create ANYTHING you want in life, if you are willing to work hard enough. And if you’re willing to pay the price for greatness. So please, Mom, please. Don’t get sucked into the status quo. The world makes way for people who know where they are going.
When you get committed. Providence will move, too.
You got this, Mama.
